Carrot and tahini smoothie recipe - sweet and delicious smoothie with a hint of nuttiness from tahini and sharpness from lemon juice. Great breakfast smoothie.

Carrot and tahini smoothie is a surprisingly delicious result of recipe testing. This combo is quite strange but oh my does it work.

Carrot, apple, and bananas are quite sweet and I needed something to cut through this sweetness otherwise this smoothie would be like eating candy. First sip might have been blissfully sweet and delicious but by the end of the smoothie it would be sickly sweet.

That’s why I added tahini and lemon juice. The nuttiness of tahini and the sharpness of lemon juice cut right through the total sweetness and complement the flavors.

Carrot and tahini smoothie
Serves: 1 glass
 
Ingredients
  • 2 small carrots - approx ¾ cup
  • 1 apple - approx ¾ cup
  • 1 banana
  • 1 tablespoon of tahini
  • juice of half a lemon - approx 1½ tablespoon
  • 1 cup / 250ml of filtered water
Instructions
  1. Add all ingredients to the blender and blend until smooth.
Notes
If you don't think your blender will be able to puree the carrot and apple add them to the blender first with part of the water and blend until smooth. Then add the remaining ingredients and blend again.
