Avocado smoothie with spirulina is so dark green in color because of the spirulina in the smoothie. This blue-green alga is very vibrant in color as well as in nutritional content. It’s a great source of protein and contains all the essential amino acids. It has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties and it could improve muscle endurance and strength.
Spirulina has a quite strong smell but blended in a smoothie it’s not noticeable anymore. Apart from the color that is 🙂
Banana and avocado are the creamy addition to the smoothie with lemon juice giving the smoothie incredible freshness and kick.
Chia seeds are another nutritional boost to the smoothie apart from spirulina and they thicken the smoothie as well.
Try this smoothie with half a teaspoon of spirulina first to see how you feel about the taste and then increase the amount to one teaspoon if you feel like it.
